If you have a qualifying chronic condition or disability, you may be eligible for VAT relief on selected DFS products. VAT relief is only available on products that are specifically designed to meet the needs of people with a qualifying chronic condition or disability. Standard electric recliners and all beds don't qualify for VAT relief, as they aren't designed solely for this purpose. This article explains who can claim VAT relief, which products qualify and how to request it.
Which products qualify for VAT relief?
To qualify for VAT relief, a product must be specifically designed to meet the needs of people with a qualifying chronic condition or disability. This means the product's primary purpose is to support those needs, rather than simply providing additional comfort or convenience.
At DFS, the following Rise and Tilt Recliner ranges qualify for VAT relief:
- Tamla
- Nevara
- Bilbury
- Newsome
- Ryder
- Ronan
- Foster
Please note that standard electric recliners don't qualify for VAT relief, as they're designed for general use and not specifically for people with a qualifying chronic condition or disability.
Our beds also don't qualify for VAT relief. To be eligible, a bed must be fully adjustable and include a rise and tilt function. None of the beds in our current range meet these requirements.
